Review of 2019 and 2020 - Bugs: Plant bugs - part 4: Stenodemini and Halticini

PLANT BUGS (MIRIDAE)

Tribe STENODEMINI

Meadow Plant Bug Leptopterna dolabrata - Recorded at the meadows between 6th June and 5th July 2019 and between 13th June and 20th July 2020.  I tend to do only small quantities of sweeping through long grass at this time of year as I get so much material with each sweep that if I did any more I'd never get it all processed, but I suspect that if I did more I would find this species in huge numbers.  Despite this clearly being a very common bug I haven't found it in my garden yet.

Stenodema calcarata - One at the meadows on 30th April 2019 and one to light in my garden on 9th August.  Then 4 in my garden moth trap between 1st and 12th August 2020.

Stenodema laevigata - Night-time records at the meadows on 21st April and 25th May 2019 and then day-time records there on 8th May (2) and 3rd August 2020.  None at home in 2019-20 but I've recorded this species here before (in 2018).

Trigonotylus caelestialium - I hadn't found this attractive species prior to 2018 so thought I did really well to get 9 in my garden moth trap that year.  Well I trumped that in 2019 with 11 between 25th July (when there were at least 7) and 9th August plus one at the meadows on 22nd August.  Then I caught 17 in the garden in 2020 between 31st July (when there were 9) and 16th August and another at the meadows on 7th August.

Tribe HALTICINI

Halticus luteicollis - One swept from White Bryony at the meadows on 3rd August 2020, my first record of any member of this small tribe.
