Description

A diary of my mothing activity covering highlights and photos from my moth trapping activities. Mainly Norfolk (UK), occasionally beyond. I may mention other wildlife sightings here, especially insects, but for birds see my birding diary.

Diurnea fagella

There were more moths last night, compared to most recent nights.  One was new for the year: March Tubic Diurnea fagella.

March Tubic Diurnea fagella, North Elmham, 3rd April

The others were standard stuff: 2 Common Flat-bodies Agonopterix heracliana, Small Quaker, 3 Clouded Drabs, 5 Hebrew Characters, 3 Early Greys and Chestnut.

Today the sun came out in the afternoon leading to my first Small Tortoiseshell of the year - only my second butterfly of the spring so far.
